Mrs Chiman Ismaeel is a Kurdish painter who has held more than 15 personal exhibitions in Iraq and abroad and participated in more than 30 collective exhibitions with her paintings. Her paintings surprise the viewer with brilliant colors and shapes, abstract forms and combinations and her ability to communicate experiences and emotions through a purely visual language divested of all symbolic or narrative content. Generally her paintings are portraits and landscapes, but mystical details and colorfulness give them originality and freshness. She has been called the "Kurdish Klimt" by some observers.
