The delegation continued their stay in Kurdistan Region, later visiting the ancient citadel situated at the heart of Erbil city.

A delegation from the European Union parliament arrived in Iraqi Kurdistan Region on January 3, 2007, on a visit aimed at building a cultural and scientific bridge with the region, Peyamner News Agency reported last week.

The delegation began their stay with a visit to Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Minister of Higher Education. Talks in the meeting centered on securing academic opportunities for Kurdish scholars at European colleges and universities.

The delegation continued their stay in Kurdistan Region, later visiting the ancient citadel situated at the heart of Erbil city. Accompanied by Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi and a number of Kurdish parliamentarians, the delegation toured the folkloric museum and historical spots within the castle.
